To say that I enjoy colour and light and how they play off each other is an understatement. I love for my paintings to jump off the canvas full of life, vibrancy and passion.
Growing up in small-town Ontario, I enjoyed running, cycling, camping, hiking, and swimming. I developed an appreciation of the beautiful seasons – the brilliant fresh green of spring, the warm and soothing hues of summer and the stunning reds, oranges and yellows of fall followed by the deep sleepy whites and deep blues of winter. That has been usurped by the sheer awe of the mountains here in Alberta. The shocking blue sky and strong proud grey of the mountains! Hiking through the Rockies with my wife has been such an amazing joy, fulfilling and peaceful. We are so blessed to live in such an amazing country with so many diverse and beautiful regions!
I paint in a loose, realistic style. I use both pallet knifes and brushes either exclusively or combined in one piece. Topics include landscapes, mountain vistas, floral, and still life. My goal is to capture the essence of the scene with emphasis on the colours, texture, direction and magnificence of light and the interplay of them together.
This I believe, is what brings my paintings to life for all to enjoy.
